Night VisitA Poem by Vanessa P100208
NIGHT VISIT An unknown figure had crept up From underneath my bed My eyes shut, ears wide open Cowering in fear I hide Beneath the sheets I listen To the lurking and creaking Waiting, anticipating My heart thumping Hoping that it fastly disappears I am frightened, extremely so Not knowing if my life’s coming To an end in a flash Or if I will be spared Now I learn to pray once again In hopes that faith will save me Creature of the night Who are you and why have you come? Sweat dripping down my forehead I try not to make a sound I feel its presence coming closer As it hovers on top of me I plead to the angels for protection I’m not ready to die Please let me continue on unscathed As my sheets start to unravel I wait for the impact of tragedy Only to realize it was all a dream
