Resentment

Resentment

A Poem by Vanessa P

Drown me in my sorrow

Immerse me in shallow grief

And let me die in vain

As frustrations leave me weary

My will has weakened

And I draw last breath

Let idle mind pay no attention

To the cries of many

Who dare pretend to care

Mourn me upon my passing

Hope that my heart not be filled with hatred

Towards your transgressions

It is not my desire

To enter the after life

With vengeful thoughts

I wish to find peace, at last

And leave ill feelings behind

To the corrupt world it belongs

I love this piece. I felt this piece not only displayed resentment well, but it encompassed regret as well. I felt the regret came from not finding the peace the character was looking for here on earth and I felt the character doubted it would exist in the after life as well.

Thank you for sharing.
