The Graveyard Trend

A Poem by Vanessa P

I stand over the grave
Of a long forgotten soul
I couldn’t make me weep
Even though I wanted to mourn

Not a trace of sadness
Or a shred of remorse
I could only watch in silence
As they put on the stone

Laid to rest
Is this poor lonely soul
As I pay respect
The name I saw was my own

Nice twist at the end... I think that this poem has alot to say, and you did a fine job of bringing the reader in to your "world".

Corrections:
I stand over the grave
Of a long forgotten soul
I couldn't make me weep (either "it" in place of "I", or "myself" in place of "me")
Even though I wanted to mourn

Nicely done!

Powerful and dark piece. I enjoyed it and this is a piece that makes you think about your own mortality.

Nice write and flow.
