Your Constant Addiction

Your Constant Addiction

Swallow
Swallow me hard
Inside your dying body
Pray I may bring you
Back to your forsaken life

As I crawl through your veins
Imagine my darkness
Taking over your mind
Torturing and invading
You have no control

Again and again
You’ll try to overcome me
But you will fail at each try
For I am a part of you now
I will forever linger

The smile I will give you
Only temporary
Yet it’s enough
To keep you coming back to me
Wanting and desiring

Am I better than misery?
More than loneliness to bear
That I’ll never guarantee
Only that you’ll crave me
Over and over you’ll crave me

Had a brother with an addiction problem and it destroyed him in the end. I can imagine this feeling prevailing in his life. Very powerful and strong. On thing, in the line "The smile I will give you" I think you need a caesura at the end. I would use a dash. If not that them I would add "is" to the beginning for flow.

Very good work.

This can describe the addiction some of us have experienced for a lover. She gets into your blood so that you crave her. All she needs do is through you a smile or any little gesture to keep you hooked.

Of course this also works for any addiction.

Nice.
