Author's Note

This is how I am feeling everytime this day comes around. Not necessarily because no one loves me. I don't want my significant other to think that I don't appreciate him or anything he's done. It's just that little jealousy, seeing people together-happy. And seeing women around me getting flowers.

I like this poem. Very sincere write.

This day hasn't meant much to me ever. I believe that if you love someone everyday spent with that person is a day to celebrate. Why would one need a reminder...?

But since I have separated from the one I still love, I have begun to hate this day.

Both, your note and your poem capture a lot about that feeling. I'm so relieved to see that I'm in some company against Valentine's Day. As for the choice of words, I absolutely love the ones that you chose to leave alone in its own line. They are constructive enough to drive the point that these are being felt inside. That is to say, I could almost imagine the fight between trying to keep your cool and the "demons" of Jealousy and Disatisfaction.

I know what you mean. Somehow this herd mentality to apparent displays of affection on a set aside holiday can be pretty irksome! It all really keeps up the idea of couples being natural and singles being outsiders.

This is a sad poem..I think its relatable in a way..I know until last year i hated Valentines Day.. Or as I call it 'Nation Single Awareness Day'..It use to be a day that just reminded me that I was single and all of the mocking smiling faces haunted me and made it worse..people carrying around bears and roses..it just made me sad that i didnt have someone to share this special day with..but that changed last year..I dont look at it the same anymore..i have someone that tries to make everyday V-day for me, just by showing me that he loves me with little things..I think that once you find that someone it will change and you might grow to love it...

Such a dark sad piece.........and yes envy can be so destructive.............I guess days like today you often
feel its shoved in your face all that love and happiness of others, I hope your day ends with love.
