Daily Commute- Rewritten

A Poem by Vanessa P

It was just an ordinary day

I went about it like many

At 7 am got myself out of bed
And headed for the shower
Then put my clothes on
Got in the car and drove

Somewhere along the way
The unexpected happened to me
On my way to work

A stupid b*****d sped passed me

He was on the other lane

Going 50 miles per hour

With a cellphone in his hand
He was hurrying up impatiently

And was too distracted to see

That I was right there

When I hit the brakes
I was a few seconds too late
I was taken away  from you

The ambulance came
Once everyone saw what happened
There wasn't much they could do
I was already gone

Now I'm up here in Heaven
Watching over you
With sadness and regret
For the way we ended things

Last night we had a fight

And said a lot of angry words

Now I wish

I could take them all back

I never even had a chance
To say Goodbye
Or simply I love you

The original version of this poem had been lost for good. So I had to rely on my memory to come up with this one. Hopefully it was close enough from what you remembered....

Ah! Very sad V! How many times do people leave each other's presense angry without telling them how much they really do love them, care about them? Your poem has a very nice point to make, and it makes it very well! We all could learn a lesson here...don't take your loved ones for granted or something horrible could happen and we would never get the chance to say..."goodbye"...
