My Friend, My Lover, My Wife

My Friend, My Lover, My Wife

A Poem by Vic Frederick

She loves me for all that I am

And accepts me for all that I’m not

Together we work for things wanted

And give thanks for the things that we’ve got

She trusts me without implication
In return I give no cause to doubt
Together we face all our problems
And patiently work them all out

She comforts and cares for our children
They grow with her right by their side
Together we plan for their future
With hearts almost bursting with pride

She gives till she’s empty from giving
With a modesty few could achieve
Together we’ve earned our accomplishments
With love and the strength to believe

She is stunning and bursting with beauty
O owe to her all that I am
For she once took a boy who was falling
And created an uprising man

She is everything good God created
And the most precious thing in my life
I’d be nothing at all now without her
My friend, my lover, my wife
