Void of Space

Void of Space

A Story by vetamotes

The vast void of space at times can be overwhelming. But with time one begins to adapt and accept their tiny role in the universe. And time is just what you have when you are placed on a space station that it self is adrift in space…For what seems like forever ago this station had been blown into space by a rouge asteroid storm.  By some luck they had not crashed into anything. No soul on board had been lost since then say for the slow decay of time. Time again we are brought back to. Time is errelavent in a void…But that doesn’t mean time stops it just becomes harder to notice it’s passing.  It is in this drift though that man would witness its greatest terror. As one day the shuttle was boarded by life forms like no other had seen glowing amorphous existences. That is the best description one could give as each creature’s body seemed to accompany far more then just that of where they hovered each creature surrounded by a set of six spheres that hovered and swirled about their lumenicent forms.  Each orb seemed to be merely a floating light caseing  as each orb did shed its fair amount of light.  Horrified one of the crew members elected to reach out with the fist of war and strike their new visitors rather than extend the hand of peace. Startled one of the beings sent one of their small orbs towards the crew man its glass housing opening with a starteling fluidity.  The small ball of light disappeared with in the man’s chest and his body instantly began to melt  into what seemed to be an inorganic paste. No bones no muscle only this sickly bubbling ooze. This could only be caused by strange matter…these presences had harvested its power by successfully containing and moving it  to their targets..The ability to destroy any thing in existence with a mere thought…Not even the mans rifle had remained it to added to the sludge. Everyone stared on in awe inspired terror as the honey like feeling of having ones mind ran through caused the warm feeling of honey filling your head. Over powering your consciousness almost to the point of submission but releaseing shortly after…These things now knew everything all on board knew.
