The Exquisite Corpse

The Exquisite Corpse

A Poem by Vernam
"

A dream

"
They were all there, in my dreams
Exquisite Corpses dancing around them.
Alphabetic Buses,
Untwisting Strands of Color.

They were all there, in my dream
Father smiling
shaking hands with one Mr. Ernst
Mother marveling at the monstrous Elephant,
"straight from Celebes" she said.

They were all there, in my drea
President Kennedy,
defending the Treachery of Images.
Andalusian Dogs yipped and howled,
jumping about his legs
frolicking while he gazed disdainfully

They were all there, in my dre
Evryone I had lost
walkin with me
mile after mile
mils upon mles
towrd the distant form
of the Red Towr.

They were all there, in my dr
as persisent as memory.
magots in their skuls
the weight of the erth
crushing upon their shoulders
dayses pushing on their
bodies
gasping for air

They were all there, in my d
my heros
dividing infinitely
scors of the finest
walkig into fire
eching murmers into
th brains of those who heard
herd them
screeming for there mothers

They were all there, in my

Then I awoke.
