A Eulogy, She Whispers;

Pt. II

Etymology of the Inpatient

Hannah Kolar

Surging; the vein

Screams for justice

Currents of the red

Chase down the pills

Tearing them apart and dispersing

Like a sick pack of wolves

To infect

The lung of survival

Mindless the dance proceeds

Stop

Panic

PANIC

And back to the holding cell

The iron bars of sleep

Light blotted out by

The ink of drugs

Taps his pen impatiently

Question

Answer

Prescription

Suppressing the

Disease

Solution/solitude/solution

No

Solution

The air clings tighter than

Any tourniquet in

This suffocating institution of such

Exemplary

Recovery

Let me go

Hold me back

The demon in white; wrapping

His insidious arms around flailing

Struggling hands

Buckled in resistance across

Rigid shoulders

Blades tense

Wishing for a blade

Tendons of restlessness; the

Traces in faces in spaces in races

Wrapped blood through iris

Strung out

By the puppet strings

Forgiving noose

We of the soon grave

Circle;

The antiseptic stares burning through

Faulty defenses

Scraping coldly

Their legs of iron

Bodies of plastic

Callously supporting the

Weight of the accused

We

Me
