Ghost of a broken heart

Ghost of a broken heart

A Poem by Julius Whitfield

her death taking a glimpse

clenching her fist

i couldn't resist (to)

open up her palm to see an autograph

she fell in the mist

grim gave her a kiss

now she was out of sight

will it commence

beginning the sense

that i dream about

it was the start

i'm getting hot

i'm on the run now

belly in a knot

i'm feeling the gloom

feeling the thin, crimson air

her ghost is in my room

but i don't have a clue

all i can smell is nicorette

the moment is dead

now the fuzz is on the trail

i started seeing things that tell me i'm going to fail

i gotta dig myself out of this open shell

something burns inside my stomach

i need to reach out and let the pieces exhale

fooling with you is hell

her ghost has a broken heart

shatter memories lay scattered down the aisle

no time for rest

i'm getting spent

wandering with you, now

walking the line

walking the ashen road

rather than trusting it

to come out now and erase her

i laid her with truth and buried her with everything

i started seeing things that tell me i'm going to fail

i gotta dig myself out of this open shell

something burns inside my stomach

i need to reach out and let the pieces exhale

fooling with you is hell

her ghost has a broken heart

shatter memories lay scattered down the aisle
