A Poem by Julius Whitfield

I watch it with anticipation

hypnotic and compelling

telling me you were the love of my life

paid me with an intrinsic i couldn't give up

now that the canopy has caved in

there is nothing to support me from falling away from you

i only watch this in suspense, rather than recognition

you proved from time and time again that the dissipation was so much stronger

as for love, somewhere it hides

not afraid, but rather quite fond of the surfaced belligerence

you only lie here for comfort and leave in vehemence

i only carry the memories in suspense, rather than recognition

i wanted this to end

but you wanted it to immerse within you

you won't let me remove the dark iris from the necreous

begging for some opacity through the lie you're letting me replay

i only watch this in suspense rather than recognition
