Be Forgotten

Be Forgotten

A Poem by D.A.Ravenda

Sitting in the yard

smoking one

the sounds of the night

so soothing

the sky

a perfect black

except for the lunar beauty

It seems to last forever

the smoke, the light

like one they wither

so slow, so beautiful

It makes you think

Lights flicker and so does my mind

I wonder

I wonder where they could go so late

but soon i wander

Why do we think

live, laugh, cry, die

why should it end

like the paper in my hand

Life is a blast

it should never end

but it does

we are created, rolled and lit

We bring joy sorrow pleasure pain

but are soon reduced to a roach

they can not let go

we have burned so close

And now our every breath

burns their finger tips

we constantly go out

only to be relit

Until we are to small

to make a difference

then we are stored away

or thrown to the side

And now at our ends

what have we

momentary joy

only to be forgotten
