And You Came To Be My Friend

And You Came To Be My Friend

A Poem by Gypsy

And You Came to Be My Friend

With smiles of hope

And words of truth
You stood alongside me
Strong and tall

As I began to wilt

You held me close

You kept me from falling

Into an abyss of uncertainty

You came to be my friend
The best that there is
Like a luminous glow

In a cold black room

This bond of souls
Of kindred spirits
Entwines and refines us
Like silver and gold

You came to be my friend
Not just for today
But for all of our days

Under the sun
