Reflections

Tender memories

Linger and fade

In somber reflections

Of a life that once was

 

My soul lays bare

To bleed in misery

My heart is desolated

Tormented by sorrow

 

As I listen to songs

Those sentimental songs

That we used to know

That we used to love

 

How did the winds of life

Bring us here?

To this tragic and visceral reality?

 

 Bewildered and forlorn

With bits and pieces

Of all of our yesterdays

Of our lives’ once lived

 

I am suspended in time

As I reconcile myself

To this loss

Of a life that once was

 

I must free you in peace

To run fast and strong

Like the black stallion

You always said you were

Run free

 

Your green eyed, long haired friend

Leaves you to rest

In quiet peace my love,

Always and forever

This piece Cindy was extremely beautiful and heart breaking to me. This tugged at my emotions and brought tears to my eyes. To lose someone you care for so deeply is a pain no one should have to feel, unfortunately we do. Your poem was wonderful.

Excellent. As well as anyone in your situation and probably much better than most, you've shown us the feelings and thoughts of one who was left behind. I'm quite sure of one thing, and that is that your late husband wants you to go on with life and not be sad.

Thank you for your comments. I believe he would too. We were divorced for long time but have four kids so you know how they remind you everyday. Thanks again for your feed back
