Inside The Prison

Inside The Prison

A Poem by Velvet Angel
"

What do you do if you are locked inside a prison, not by bars, but only by the force of your own, dark thoughts?

"

Locked

Inside a prison

Dirt like flakes of my imagination

The blinds shut

The cell locked

Darkness dawns in every corner

Grasping, lusting after me

My thoughts are heavy

Am I even trapped anymore?

Is it the pain of my own embrace

My tight hold?

Inside a prison

I am not locked

For the doors are open

But my mind is not free

Those dark thoughts you refer to can be stronger and more constraining than any reinforced steel prison bars.... an interesting and enjoyable read.... and I thank you for it..... Neville
