Brighter

Brighter

A Poem by Vela June (or aira isane)

Brightly lit red lights of the post outside the termite infested window frame,
The laced white curtains can be seen dancing with the November breeze.

    You and I,
We aren't comrades of any sort
but your lighter shines brighter
  in the eyes of one
    who's never shined at all

Thank the stars beyond the reaches of your shine that they haven't become jealous.

    You and I,
We aren't comrades of any sort
but your lighter shines brighter
  in the eyes of one
    who's never shined at all

The pavement you stand on delights on your illumination, night and night again.

    You and I,
We aren't comrades of any sort
but your lighter shines brighter
  in the eyes of one
    who's never shined at all

There is a wondrous tension you create between the light and darkness... the cold and warmth of seasons shared... Beautifully confessed and rhythmic in your repetition.
