aloneA Chapter by lonewolfatheartthe pale yellow moon shone fiercly through the challenging clouds. the woods were oddly silent, the only sound shattering the silence were the thunderous booms of diablos hooves. the brushy overhang of the twisted timbers constantly threatened to sweep her out of the saddle. it was easy to get complacent out here, alone. the quiet, unforgiving darkness. she was out here with her thoughts, which wasn't exactly what she needed. alone. was she? she felt an aura trepass upon hers. and in that smae instant her awareness peaking, it disappeared. it wasn't vampire. vampires feel more... filthy. she had experienced a similar aura before, so distant in time she couldn't recall. she wasn't even sure whether it be beast nor human. she kicked up the stallion and rode on. she lost herself in the terrain, the emotions racing through her soul, the complete solitude. she wasn't sure how long she'd remained out of touch, the only thing that brought her back was the foriegn aura crossing her barriers again. she stopped, dismounted and walked toward the thicket paralleling the road. she glided towards the center and took a knee, feeling for the creature. listening for the next move. it was indeed the same aura, had it followed her all this way? she heard the brush pop in the distance. it couldn't wiegh that much, not that of a human. four legs. it stepped again, advancing towards her, circling the treeline. it is a wolf, she remembered the musky strong smell they carry themselves with. it's curiousity drew it closer to her. she didn't feel threatend, but curious as well. she lifted her head in the direction the noise and steps had originated. suprisingly she was welcomed by glowing yellow eyes , exuded perceptiveness. as if it knew exactly who she was. the animal revelaed itself by stepping out of the tree line, its massive size striking awe in dakota. the timberwolf proudly displayed it's coors. blacks, grys and a peculiar shade of blue in the right light. he was very muscular, this deicieving her prevuious assumption on the size of the beast, he must tread very lightly. his next action baffled her. he lowered his head as if the show submission as her being the "alpha". and she bowed in return, to show that she had accepted his token of respect. she could probably use the company anyway. "you can come if you would like," she spoke softly, joining in the madness verbally." but i have prior engagements." she laughed at her own absurdity. but then the hunter astonished her once again, he stepped forward and nodded in return. she turned towards the road and began to step, her training halting her in her tracks. she instinctly never turns her back on anything. she laughed under her breath, his aura maybe dangerous, but harm was not intended towards her. she continued along the narrow path back to her awaiting impatient mode of transportation. the wolf followed her, at a distance. maybe she had an accomplice she smiled to herself. she stepped into the stirrup and slung herself into the familiar saddle. she should reach the village by daybreak. she can sleep in the security of sunlight. the wolf loped easliy at diablo's side, the pace causing no effort on his part. diablo was comfortable as well, causing dakota to ease slightly. never fully relaxing, but easing travel stresses. she had enough to worry when it comes daybreak. she would need to survielence the town and beaware of the townspeople's reaction towards her. should she have to kill a vampire she may have an uprise among blissfully ignorant merchants. well she would cross that bridge when she gets there, quite literally. © 2008 lonewolfatheartAuthor's Note
