And why seaA Poem by Victorialosing, losing, gone. She takes her time now. No need to rush to and from places she should have been five minutes ago.
The dirty streets can take her, lead her to…God knows where. At least it’s somewhere Nowhere near what she’s not
running from. walking from. hiding from.
Her briefcase lies open somewhere between Madison and 22nd.
Open like the porcelain mouth of a frat mother’s pride.
Her business is flying up and down the streets like a lazy pigeon with nowhere to go.
A park. A name. A child. A game.
Life passing by While she passes by. Loss like that missing childhood toy. you have no idea where it could be.
Loss like an only child gone missing. You have one but you just don’t know where it is and it kills you inside. You won’t be complete until you find them.
She finds herself at the waters edge. The bowels of the greatest city in the world. The reality. What’s in it. What it does. Polluting something once beautiful. Making sure there is no way to go back to what it used to be.
She empathizes with the water. Feels its pain. Understands the constant muck even with the rain. No way to remember the purity before. Thanks to this ruining city, on the brinks of its shore. © 2011 VictoriaAuthor's Note
