A New BeginningA Chapter by Acinna V.She wakes up stranded on the sea and is completely clueless and terrified.
CHAPTER 1 " The Unknown __________________________________________________ Black. Pure darkness was all I could see. Soaking wet, silky fabric clung on my skin. My teeth chattered and my body trembled as the icy air rush over my extremities. I frantically struggle to lift open my eyelids but they respond only by drooping back down. At last, I peek out of my squinted eyes but my brain is rattling inside my skull. The pain is so gripping it is difficult for me to be certain of what I see. I let the darkness once again overtake me. Frigid waves of water came crashing down upon my limbs and face leaving a salty taste within my mouth. The vessel jolts back and forth crashing my side into the wall leaving a decapitating ache as I rub the small of my back. Inside of my chest my heart thundered and I scrambled to prop myself but my hands, arms, legs and feet were like jelly. My body flopped back on the deck and I sluggishly flipped myself over to face the sky. Forcing my eyes to open, I found to my horror that I was surrounded by endless amounts of water. This was no cute little pond but the dangerous open sea. The sky was dark yet dreamy even as the charcoal clouds loomed behind the thick mist. Beneath my thoroughly soaked dress, scratchy planks of wood rub my skin raw leaving red patches all over my arms. Above a wispy sail flailed, threatening to fly off in the wind and disappear. I run my hands over the lumpy goosebumps on my arms as my body trembles. I rack my brain for answers but tears well up in my eyes as I begin to realize I did not know where I was, or how I had gotten myself into this ridiculous mess of a situation. This must be just a terrible accident. It has to be. Wobbling to my knees, I hold on to the edge of the boat and puke the contents of my stomach into the bleak, dark ocean as it violently swayed to and fro. I wanted more than anything to blame someone for my dire circumstances but I could come up with no names, no faces... or memories. I couldn't even muster up my name, for goodness sakes! What kind of person forgets who they are? The heavens thundered above and I could only hope that my fate isn't to die all alone, adrift upon the cruel sea. “Someone please help me! Help! Help! I'm not ready.. Save me! Anyone!” The desperate pleas went unanswered and all that was left to do was lie down defeated covering my eyes from the nightmare that my life had become. “What did I do to deserve this?” I yelled out hysterically, drawing my knees up to my chest. “Please be a nightmare,” I whispered, “what's wrong with me, why don't I remember a single damn thing?” Mists of water filled the air as wave after wave swelled and clash at each other. Drawing my knees up my chest, I buried my head on my knobby knees. I nervously rock back and forth with my eyes closed trying to calm my fried nerves, taking deep breaths to center my mind. Even after several breaths, the tears trickle down my cheeks and I poke my head back out to face reality. Suddenly the boat lurches forward in bolting speed, riding on a mountainous wave followed by a thunderous crackle that rings my ears. [The next thing I know] I am sent tumbling into the depths of the ocean. The chill envelopes me, and I claw at the water while my lungs cry for air. As I begin to lose consciousness a blinding light pulsates and lights up the sea like the sun on a bright summer day and a comforting warming sensation creeps up around me. Then the darkness consumes me once more and I welcome it with open arms.
