Ch 1. Awakening

Awakening in an unknown place, this is just the beginning...

My head aching, vision blurry, my eyes slowly adjust to the light. I feel like I awaken from a deep sleep and my body is heavy. I can finally see and I observe my surroundings. A dark room lit only by a dim electric light bulb from the ceiling, the room is cool and bland, no windows and the walls painted a subtle grey and there is only a wooden chair and a small table. The only thing that stands out is the bright red door that appears to be the only entrance and exit for the room. Where am I?... I wonder. Panic suddenly strikes. I can't recall anything from anywhere! No memories, no idea of who I am,not even a name comes to mind. 

I'm laying on the ground when I had finally regained consciousness, so I stand to my feet but to quickly and my head becomes woozy. I place my hand on the small table for balance. My head stirred but after a moment it went away. I have no clue how I am in this situation, but I'm sure there's a way out, I think trying to reassure myself, If I keep calm I am sure there is some sort of logical explanation for this. I decide to simply examine the room more so I can leave, I head towards the door, appearing to be  the only way to exit the tiny room. I grab the knob and twist, but the door won't budge. I try turning the knob the other way but still the door showed no sign of releasing itself from the wall. Frustrated I bang on the door trying to make it open and I push all my weight against hoping to penetrate through to the other side somehow, but no luck. The door stood strong against my forcing at it. I glance around the room in search of something, ANYTHING that will help me escape, but like I said before there's only a chair and a small table, but wait... I glance back at the table and see something that I do not believe was laying there a moment ago. I walk back over to the table and find an envelope sitting on it, That can't be right, I think, there was nothing on it when I looked at it before, so how is it that there is a letter here now?... Well I was a little dizzy when I stood up, I could have just overlooked it... Maybe it will help me get out of here and help me figure out what is going on! So without hesitation I pick up the envelope and inspect it. On the cover of the envelope reads only one word, "Game", I do not know why this would be printed on the front, but yearning for more information I tear open the letter furiously and read the following:

Hello dear contestant and welcome to "The Game". Now I am quite aware of the dilemma you are faced with at the moment and I have the solution for you. In order to escape this place you must play "The Game". Now if you choose to accept you do have a chance of getting out, now I'm not saying that you won't get out, but I'm not saying you will get out either, but you do have a chance. If you choose not to play..well let's just say that you will be totally eradicated from the face of this Earth and never to be seen again. I am sure now that you have chosen to accept the challenge now so let us get along of discussing the game a bit more so you will be more enlightened. There are rules to this game, I can't let you just roam around free and willy-nilly. NO, you are going to have to use a variety of your abilities if you want to escape and win. Rule #1 Play The Game. Rule #2 If at any time you choose to quit playing the game you will be put to death immediately. These will be the only rules of The Game. Now I am also quite sure you are thinking, what is The Game exactly? This insane “game” that involves your life in the hands of some mad stranger. Well, to be plain you have been placed in labyrinth. Not just any labyrinth my dear boy no, you will have to find yourself out of here against all odds. No telling what you will come across in The Game. Now this is all the information I will provide you with and now it is only up to you to seek and obtain your freedom and the answers to all of your questions. And I know that you have no idea of what your name is, but here in The Game we have given you a temporary name until you find out your true identity, IF you find it out. You will be called Lucifer from now on until you overcome and defeat The Game and figure out your real name IF you win. This should be an interesting display of efforts.  Good luck, dear "Lucy"!

My mind blank, I stare at the sheet of paper and think, I need to let this information sink in if it’s real, but this is sick! And who is the person behind this anyway?!?! The name signed at the end of the letter is in some foreign language I can't make out... Why am I even supposed to be doing this?!?!! And calling me Lucy! It's intimidating me!!! Okay, just pull yourself together! ...who ever I may be.... but I can do it.. I can try this “Game”.. I mean all I have is my life anyway, what more can I lose? I flip over the paper and find the first puzzle of the many trials ahead of me.

The words on the back of the page read : Matthew 7:7. Strange, this looks familiar. Wait, I know this.. it’s a verse from the bible... Matthew 7:7, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.”, The thing is how do I even remember this?.... I guess doesn't matter how, I just need to figure out how this is going to help me get out of here...

Interesting concept Though it reminds me of a Movie called "Cube". What Type of Bible are you using? The verses can read slightly different depending on the bible I can see a lot of possibility's with my translation but slightly less with yours however i believe your translation is better known and as its key to the story its also Probably best you use lines that would be known by more people

Corrections/suggestions:
1) "I am sure now that you have chosen to accept the challenge now so let us get along of discussing the game a bit more so you will be more enlightened." I don't like the use of "more" twice in one sentence, let alone so close together. I suggest removing the second "more".

2) "Not just any labyrinth my dear boy no, you will have to find yourself out of here against all odds." "find yourself out of here"? It sounds funky.... Maybe "find you way out of here"?

3) "Now this is all the information I will provide you with and now it is only up to you to seek and obtain your freedom and the answers to all of your questions." Again double use of words. I suggest eliminating the second "now". I also have a funk with this piece of that sentence " it is only up to you to seek and obtain". It just sounds awkward... Maybe.... leave out the "only"?
