Chapter 2A Chapter by Raven
Chapter 2
I woke up at ten in the morning. My shift at clovers, the bar just down the street from my house, starts at seven when the sun goes down. My boss and coworker Alice is a very good woman; she’s a petite girl with short black hair. Unlike me, Alice loves the vampires. She’s dated three. So naturally she is the first person to open a bar that serves vampires too. Of course the vampires don’t eat, but they will just hang out. Maybe even find a willing person to bring home. Me, I hate vampires and I don’t trust them at all. I work at Clovers because Alice is my friend, and I need the money. Vampires became legal just two years ago. After the mayor of Boston’s son got bitten. Laws were then made not to harm a vampire, unless they harm you first. Not many people agree to this, and hunt them anyway. Vampires have rights now, and you can get in big trouble if you harm one. No matter how much I disagree with the law vampires are legal,
and I just have to deal with that. Whether I like it or not. So I got up and went into the kitchen. The answering machine was blinking. My mother called again just to check up on me. Like she does every week since I moved out. She still thinks I’m unable to take care of myself. When she heard where I was working that didn’t help the issue either. I had another message from Alice telling me to work a double shift today. The other waitress, Raina, called in sick. So I would have to work from two to twelve. This means I have to get in an hour early to help open the bar.
I only have two hours to eat, take a shower, and get ready. I ran to the refrigerator, grabbed the milk and a box or cereal off the shelf. Then I ran to the bathroom to shower. When I got out, I grabbed my normal uniform for clovers. Which is a white shirt with the clover symbol, and the word clovers written in script on the left sleeve. I also have to wear a plain black skirt. I grabbed my heart charm bracelet that made noise when I moved. It was given to me on my sixteenth birthday from Alex. By then it was a little after one and I was late. I ran out the door so fast that I tripped down the stairs and tore my sleeve. I got a scrape on my knee and a cut on my face. It looks like today is going to be a great day. © 2009 Raven |
