Cold Hearted Dream

Cold Hearted Dream

A Poem by Domi

My heart belonged to everyone that said they would love it,

I gave it out to whoever I thought would care for it,

Foolishly thinking it was the last time,

But it never was.

Again and again it would break,

I would give it away knowing very well it would be

broken again,

Around and around it goes,

More pain, more scars.

The bleeding started not to stop,

Only to be opened more,

Torture disguised as love,

And want.

The pain numbed and broken to no end,

What is love,

What is tenderness,

What is touch.

Many questions left unanswered and to what

end,

The games that are played and won,

By the one who said they'd love it,

Broken, sad and to never wish for love again.

Not wanting to fight a long fight,

With nothing left,

But a shred of lost hope and dreams,

Dreams too small to recognize and plunder.

I loved you with all my heart,

With all my soul,

And to see nothing but darkness left cold,

To die and never come back to life again.

Criticism is welcome. I wrote this in a paragraph form but turned it into a poem. This was written when my 2 1/2 year boyfriend broke up with me and I was led to believe, in my own heart, that he was the love of my life and I was his. Written Oct 11, 2016
