THE BUTTERFLY

Strange I felt I somehow knew you

When at first I shared your bed

Though in truth you were a stranger

As a story left unread

You've the mind of quite the artist

How you shared your thoughts with me

Oh what mysteries unfolded

In your cabin by the sea

On my flute I played you music

Nights we frolicked hand in hand

Felt the ocean's gusty breezes

We made love upon the sand

To the sweetened smell of incense

We explored each other's minds

In the depth of understanding

Stayed together for a time

But the dawn must turn to morning

As it shall forever more

And an artist needs his freedom

Other ladies to explore

How I wanted so to keep you

As a butterfly in jar

But to hold you is to change you

And I love you as you are

Wow Valerie, this is a beautiful poem.
As the mysteries unfolded, you might have left the last page unknown.
