Flower

Flower

A Poem by Valerie Dean Belew
"

This is a lyric every woman will probably relate to at one time or another

"

FLOWER

Friendship's a flower

Sometimes it dies

It's so hard to let it live

Once I realize

That if I see a flower in bloom

It'll bloom for others too

Woman to woman

Sometimes I feel so afraid

That I might lose some man

To a friend I've made

It's not that I love him

I guess

It just must be my pride

Woman to Woman

Please don't misunderstand

It's not that I want you

The way I would want a man

It's just that you see me in a way

One would never understand

You see me sparkle

You see me glow

You don't have to use it

to see my beauty show

You don't have to pick the flower

For love to grow

Woman to woman

You've been so good to me

When I look at you

It's only beauty I see

You didn't leave me

in my lonely time

stayed right with me

till my sun could shine

And woman to woman

I know we'll be friends

Till the end of time

This was superb!...No favorite lines, It's all good and it flowed well. I could hear and feel the rhythmic beat as I read it out loud.

I could envision and hear Melissa Etheridge singing this. (That's a compliment)

This poem is so true of friendship and life. I love the picture it paints for the world of how women can be friends but still jealous of one another.
