day 26 - chicago

day 26 - chicago

A Poem by valerie
"

this is how my grandfather proposed to my grandma

"
the flat downstairs is
empty
and his mother's polish is present in her smile
as she wipes her hands on a dishrag.
"since you're going together, are you moving
in?
or should i put it up for rent?"
joseph c***s his hat to the side,
the way he always does,
and looks at my grandmother.
"well,
what do you think?"
