retrograde amnesia

A Poem by valerie
"

i don't want to be a doctor.

"
she stares at photographs
held by hands atop arms with tubes attached to them.
there is a gold band across her finger.
she recognizes the face in the mirror,
but not the man standing next to her.
she looks at the man in the armchair beside her.
there is the man in the photo,
but asleep, dark circles under his eyes.
his hand rests across his stomach,
and the gold circling his finger matches hers.
she doesn't remember how they met.

Author's Note

valerie
i wrote the poem before deciding on a title, is the disease/disorder accurate to what i've written? is it hard to understand what is going on? if so, what can i change to fix that?
