rain forest

A Poem by valerie
"

to the one person i truly loathe.

"
You wear your sins like peacock feathers
Loud and proud, bold colors
Bright against the dim shades of
My innocence.
As pure and light and white as snow,
Fur of an albino rabbit, eyes red,
Just like the tiger stripes
I painted across my inner thighs.
I am going to pluck each feather
from your skin, pin it to the wall
show everyone who you really are
skin sagging in all the wrong places
naked, bruised, dirty
you are exposed
and I have made you this way.
You are going to regret
The day you did this to me
You are going to regret
The day you did this to him
You are going to regret
The days you turned all those other boys'
Lives upside down, turmoil, spiralling,
Self-destruct in five, four, three, two
One.
One mistake, that's all it took
To get you started on this
One thoughtless decision
That you decided to make.
That led to others, once, twice,
Three times, over and over again
Growing out of control like
Vines in the rain forest in
The middle of summer
It has a reputation of being beautiful,
Just like you
But it also is being slowly destroyed,
Torn down, uprooted
Just like you
You will regret this
Because when my words
And my hands
And my friends are the bulldozers,
Honey, there won't be a single
Tree of dignity left.
