You Get What You Need
September 8, 2006 / 1:56 am

My words are not sophisticated ones.
They show no quality of retrospection.
My words are just breath,
Brittle bone,
Dried up pages
Of some old dime store
Western my father used
To read when he was a kid.
And I'm trying to stay
All up and at 'em,
Tryin to stay in the face
Of what is true to me
But that's harder done
Than written.
How do you get to the
Point where you are
Running full into the
Now and not running
Flat out from the past?
I don't know but I'm
Asking the right questions.
