Vow

Vow

A Poem by Valentine140
"

I wrote this as a bit of a prologue for one of my stories, but decided that I prefered it as a poem on it's own.

"

In the night,
I see the,
Sneaking out to the gardens,
To the old apple tree.

There he stands,
So tall and proud,
Waiting for his princess,
There he vows,

Oh, Cassandra,
Beautiful Cassandra, the,
Forever am I yours,
And yours mine,
Just agree.

Cassandra, my dearest,
Take this sacred vow,
Marry me,
Right here, right now.

I promise that forever,
I will keep you safe,
Keep you happy,
Keep you my lady.

I watch as you kiss your knight,
Agreeing to the vow,
You run off through the dark trees,
And look back at me.

I beg you not to leave,
But you beg through your eyes,
Pleading me to forgive you,
But I cannot.

Also I would like to add that the poem is not wrote from the veiw of a previous lover but her sister. They only had each other and now her big sister has run off and she is alone forever more. x

Thanks for the comments. I have never really been very good at writing poems and this was my first proper one; I know that it is not perfect. The way I wrote it is just the way that seemed right to me, so if there are grammar mistakes, I apologise :P x

Nice feeling to this poem. Just one small nit - the second line: should it read "I see him"? Otherwise very nice.

This is excellent work.
I just have one critique.
"Forever am I yours,
And yours mine, "
I'm not aware of this being proper grammar. "And yours mine"... Shouldn't it be "And you are mine" ?

Lovely poem! It tells a story through poetry , Cassandra has to choose between her knight and feeling guilt about leaving. Great write!
