Prologue

A Chapter by Valendette

I’m finally here.

Not there, Not elsewhere.

But here.

New York City.

The city of lights. The city of adventures. The city that never sleeps.

And here I was. Staring up at the giant screens, the captions, the lights the sounds. Simply standing in this spot felt surreal. Growing up I had always lived in a dazzling world of my own. Filled with dreams of spotlights and thick red curtains. Broadway. People would tease me; call me the girl that listened to showtunes. As if it was some sort of disease or infection. That’s simply because they have no idea how grand the theater can be. You can be anyone you want. A princess. A prostitute. Even a pig. The possibilities are endless. Once those curtains open and you stare down at the crowd before you, that feeling, right there, would be enough for anyone to love this place.

And I was here.

Not there, not elsewhere.

 But here.

New York City.

Once again I would love to read a full blown story based off of this as an opening. I think we all have that somewhere we would love to be and this piece hits the nail on the head for how that makes us feel and act. loved it!
