At The Corner

At The Corner

A Poem by RJM
"

...I'm going to let the text do the describing

"
At The Corner

Across the crowded room
amid the joy of children
and the chatter of the adults

I see you in a corner standing
quietly with a smile on your
face and joy in your eyes

Your black hair glistens
as the light shines upon
you like a halo from above

Your youthful face still
as beautiful as when we
first met on that
sad summer day
in the city full of dreams

I still love you with
all my heart and
nothing they say
will change that

And if you were to
ask why I still love
you I would answer
with a shrug and
honestly say "I don't know"

But maybe it was your
whispering eyes that took
me or your beautiful smile
and maybe just maybe it just is

For love has no reasons
for being or for existing
it's just there one day
when you least  expect
it, like rain in the
middle of summer

Unexpected, sudden
surprising and yet
always welcome

I love, love, love the last two stanzas! "It's just there one day. When you least expect it. Like rain in the middle of summer. Unexpected, sudden. Surprising yet welcome."

Beautiful!
