No Man's LandA Poem by ElyanaEver wonder what truly goes on in a soldier's mind in battle?
A hint of envy cause souls
It holes hearts with bullets In men who fight for peace In wives who pray for miracles Each step they take is courage and fear Blended in the battle field Death crawls beneath a soldier's feet Slowly but surely it haunts their dreams Day and night, push as hard as they can Closer and closer to no man's land The sound of gunshots become clearer and clearer Everyone knew they were finally here They yell: "This is no man's land where we're bound to be hit Beyond these fences, all will begin The battle outside and the battle within Take cover, dodge the bullets that fly Not a soul will die without a fight for this country or a fight for one's life." Before he retreats or drop to his knees His last breath will go before his biggest dream Two valiant nations once raging in battle One day will find peace in the arms of the other Where each color or skin will not matter And no man will need to take cover From the guns and the hands in power. With all willpower, they climbed the fence A test of courage for every man But as a bullet hits his leg then his shoulder He drops in surrender. A light flashes in his eyes just right before he dies And the story of his life passes by The memories of laughter with his son so sweet and the smile of his wife is all he can see Eyes to the sky, his tears hit the ground His hand to his heart, he then drops down. No man's land is unstoppable Unpredictable, unpassable But in this soldier's heart, he did it. Hit killed him but not his dignity Forget his name but never what he did to this country © 2018 Elyana |
