Brain and Heart ConversationsA Poem by Mriss TorresWe all learn from our mistakes sooner or later.I watch you repeat the same mistake. And before I could witness you fall to your knees, weeping in the comfort of your sleeves, I didn’t have the chance to catch you. Because you didn’t want me to. You were always so cold when I offered up, when I spoke of your luck running up. You knew just as much as I did, yet you still stayed up, crying all through the night for a kid who held no shame. What a waste. © 2017 Mriss Torres |
