Fairer, even, than a brisk Winter's day
Night was her home Though in the coffin she would lay Her skin was like aspen and the year's very first snow Though her neck was stained red Under stars that don't glow Light as a feather was as her body seemed As I picked up her hand I touched everything she'd dreamed I watched as tears fell from her eyes, clean and clear On the night that she died I felt only her fear A knife sharp as Winter's first blizzard gale Into her neck So thin and so pale I took hold of her hand and pulled her up from the bed All through the night I danced with the dead © 2014 ChloeAuthor's Note
