Dearly Departed

Dearly Departed

A Poem by Chloe
"

I just wanted to write something with the phrase "Dancing with the dead" in it and this is the somewhat meager result of such wants

"
Fairer, even, than a brisk Winter's day
Night was her home
Though in the coffin she would lay

Her skin was like aspen and the year's very first snow
Though her neck was stained red
Under stars that don't glow

Light as a feather was as her body seemed
As I picked up her hand
I touched everything she'd dreamed

I watched as tears fell from her eyes, clean and clear
On the night that she died
I felt only her fear

A knife sharp as Winter's first blizzard gale
Into her neck
So thin and so pale

I took hold of her hand and pulled her up from the bed
All through the night
I danced with the dead

I realize the rhyme scheme was a bit odd. What did you think of it, and are there any improvements I can make?
