Puddle Waltzing

Puddle Waltzing

A Poem by KC

We used to walk in the rain

And you'd take my hand

Splashing through puddles

Waltzing ankle-deep and then

You'd quirk an eyebrow

Crook a finger and grin

I'd half-try to escape

But let you twirl me into a spin

Dancing and laughing 'til

We were weary and weak

And I'd want to go in

But you always begged

And knew just what to say

So I'd give in and stay

Then I'd smile and sigh

Like I had the power,

And you had to obey

We'd go on pretending

That you had no sway

Over me

…but we both knew.

Smart girls don't love boys like you.
…especially like you.
