Meet Me There

Meet Me There

A Poem by KC

At the annual Math Fair

Were you the brown-haired guy

Blue eyes, black shirt that

Said, "I love Pi"?

If so, I'm the girl who ran into you

Accidentally on purpose, and I just wanted to

Say you were cute

If you're game to meet me

Are you the girl in the blue dress

Your black hair a beautiful mess

Who said I could have her name

If only I could guess?

And didn't even crack a grin

When I guessed Rumplestiltskin?

So, are you an Amanda? A Grace?

A Nicole, or Jen or Lauren?

I won't quit this cyber chase

Until I get it right, and when I finally do

To the boy boarding train 183

When our eyes happened to meet

You had that ridiculous hat

And tipped it at me

And I was the goof who

Didn't have the sense to

Ask if you were going my way

Or if you wanted company

I'll make it up sometime

You were the boy with the guitar

And I tried not to melt,

but it couldn't be helped

Hair artfully neglected, with bottomless eyes

I lied and said I despised

I should've steered clear,

but chose not to hear

And really, what could I do?

Must've been a full moon

The way I was howling at you

Want to start a pack?

To the girl with the classics

Toting an armful of Brontë and Austen

Who threw a haughty expression

At my own Rowling and King

I shrugged it off, nodded at your books

And said, "Gross, chick things."

The truth is I loved Pride and Prejudice

And if you're interested, I play a good Mr. Darcy
