Secret Keeper

Secret Keeper

A Poem by KC

I am her secret keeper as she is mine
We are two of the same kind, and we stare
Our blinks and breaths and bitter drinks
Keeping ready, steady time
a sea of empty tumblers
and the tell-tale stain of wine
Keeping endless time against us,
lest the seconds blend and blur
And we mistake one for another.
Yet I doubt that would occur
For she’s my secret keeper,
and like a shadow I am hers

At first reading of this one I saw a diary - second reading, your inner self - your conscience - the other you - third read, I thought perhaps a twin

Now I think it is your inner self - your other you talking - guarding you and your diary holding the secrets.

good imagery here, a fear of one day going too far, yet a sense of trusting that you will be protected.

A good poem Kc I did enjoy reading it.
