Immortality

Immortality

A Poem by Rachel McLean

I once received a vial
A vial that contained nothing
Nothing, besides pure Eternity

Unsure of what this Eternity truly was,
I kept away from it,
and had nothing to do with it

After a time however,
my curiosity grew too strong
Overwhelming my senses, it took over
and so I drank every last drop
of Eternity

It was a blessing,
Never fearing death,
Never growing old,
Never running out of time

And then reality hit

My loved ones perished before my eyes,
All that I knew faded away into nothing

Now, my skin refuses to bleed,
And my lungs never fail to breathe,
As I stand here now,
wasting my life,
trapped in this Immortality

About
So, I haven't been writing for very long, but I definitely hope to improve. I prefer to do stories and novels, however my main purpose here is to work on my poetry. Other than writing, I love reading .. more..
