Lost in Battle of the Stars

I was feeling down. Here's what came of it. My spirits have since lifted. No one has let me down.

In a dream I'd never wish to escape
I find unconsciousness overridden.
As I can only guess my fate
true emotions remain hidden.

In the wake of lessons past
I find no empathy to express.
As empty as those moments were
weakness has me fighting less.

All those nights where fortune laid
I find nothing but dust and memories.
I pray for some hearts return
from between those arching trees.

I cry, in vain, to find some hope
as in this dwelling I've lost it all.
As you were once my pair of wings,
my angel, you've let me fall.
