Yasmin nodded to the music as she walked through the woods on a cool night. She was coming home from a party, one that involved drinking beer as a contest. She was a little drunk. Currently she was listening to her music player to the song "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode. It was a remix. It always made her think. And it was relaxing. It was a bit quiet in the woods as she walked hurriedly, stumbling here and there on stumps. Yasmin looked around. She didn't recognize this part of the woods. There was supposed to be a road leading to the city. That was what she hated, coming here. It was so isolated. She wondered why they had a club all the way in this desolate area. Perhaps it was because the whole city didn't have much room for new places. She kept on walking, even though she was tired. She didn't care much for walking long distances. It reminded her of her childhood, when she used to walk all the time everywhere. She would always be willing to go anywhere her feet would take her. But it wasn't like that now. Yasmin desperately wanted to be home in the comfort of her home, drinking hot chocolate and sitting on the sofa, perhaps even cuddling up to her boyfriend, Andrae. She might call him when she got home. Yes, she was now lost. Her suspicions have been confirmed. She must have walked in a circle, because she could remember the tree with a mark on it, in the shape of a crescent moon. She cursed under her breath. No time for that now though, because cursing wouldn't do much to solve the problem. She decided to think of another tactic. Calling her boyfriend was a good idea. She dialed his number on her cell phone rapidly as the serene tranquility filled the woods. "S**t." she muttered. The phone had no signal. Of course it wouldn't. She was in the middle of nowhere, out of civilization. What now? she wondered. Just thinking of being alone without any contact to the rest of the world made Yasmin shiver. What would happen if some pervert came out of nowhere and attacked her? Yasmin tried her best to push that thought in the back of her head. Could it be that she couldn't find her way out of the woods because she was drunk? That must have been it. She stopped to think. What did she remember when she was a little girl, about the forest? She remembered that moss grows on the north side of trees. That's all she remembered. Yasmin looked up at the sky. The stars were bright and alive as they shimmered in the sky. She noticed there was a big, shiny one that seemed to tell her something. She wondered what it was. It was unnaturally huge, and it had a light shade of blue. It was probably a satelite or an airplane or something. Just then, someone tapped her on the back. Yasmin quickly swiveled around, looking to see who it was. It was a little girl, and she looked frightened. She must be lost, as Yasmin was. "Hey, what's wrong?" Yasmin stooped down to her level. The little girl said nothing. She had a torn black dress on, with equally torn stockings, and she appeared very dirty. She must be an orphan. "Don't worry, I can help you, even though I don't know my way out either." Yasmin said, trying to comfort the girl. The girl responded by pointing at something behind Yasmin. "What is it?" Yasmin asked, looking behind her to see what she was pointing at. She screamed. It was a huge creature, unlike anything that is on this earth. It looked like a cross between a lion and a shark. Only, it was larger and twice a lion's size. The thing leaped at Yasmin and began biting chunks off her face, as she kept screaming. The thing took the opportunity to yank off her tongue, blood spurting out everywhere. Yasmin choked on her own blood, her eyes wide open. The thing took her whole head and crushed it under it's gigantic feet. The little girl smiled. She went over to it and patted the thing lovingly. "Good boy, Kilos." she cooed. Kilos then shape shifted into a human being. "Hello Mina. It's been a while." he said. "Yes, it has," she said, then paused. "Was it wrong to kill her?" she said hesitantly. "No," Kilos said firmly. "Humans are not to be trusted. You know that." "Yes...but...she wanted to help me, even though she was lost herself." Mina said, remembering. "Mina, have you grown soft in the head? Do you not remember what humans did to our lord?" "Yes..." Mina said softly. Kilos looked at her with his actual silver eyes, which turned colors every time someone saw him. He was a man around his 20's, and he was very tall. "Come now. We must go. We have a mission here, remember?" "Yes. I remember." "Then let us go, and fullfill our promise to our lord, who now rests in peace." © 2008 Bored.of.Education |
