Unfinished Love

Oh guess who this is for.

What was intended between you and me will no longer be.

 I'm broken,

    lying on the floor,

         but still

I close my eyes and dream of a place without the pain of this disgrace.

   We lose what we love, 

   And gain the dread.

Where has love gone, 

And why do I feel so dead?

I gave you everything but you wanted more.

 When nothing was left, I couldn't stop you from walking out the door.

I would do anything

 to have you here again.

I'll burn every picture,

  I'll put down my pen..

I'll bring you food and make your bed.

I'll be the perfect wife, and keep my thoughts in my head.

I'll shut my mouth and hold your hand and support you while you stand. 

 I miss your lies

  and the stupid disguise

and I miss the sadness you brought me.

I know you're scum but I miss those nights

 You slept and held me tightly.

Ugh, so true. Why do we miss the bad things too? I guess that makes it more real, but holy cow it's irritating. I guess those are the quirks that make that person unique, and make them what they are to us, both good and bad, and with real love, it only endears them to us. Anyway, great job.
