Stand

Stand

A Poem by Shae

Sometimes things don't always go as planned.
We spend time alone and think we're at our end.
I've fallen down but no one hears.
I've suffered this pain for so many years.
Broken people set on the floor,
but never attempt to get up and walk out the door.
We lock ourselves inside our rooms,
and await the time we meet our doom.
Who wants to live like this?
Just think about all the good things we miss.
 Laughter, joy, sunshine, friends..
I don't want that to come to an end.
I'll be the first to stand up and say
"I won't be captive. Today is my day."
I'll stand up on my own, even though I've been broken.
I want the sun back in, so the door will be opened.
