Chains and LinksA Poem by unspokenpainIn memory of Hailie Yarnell
I could stand at the top, it's what I told my self, and everyone who gathered. If I could just make them think the same, I won. But we all stood the same. We we're stronger together, more than we could ever realize. We were pillars among ourselves, we were the chains that bound us to fate. Such a pity, thinking a link is as strong by itself as it is with others. We separated like fate commanded. Together we were, together we weren't. How did I stand alone before our bonds? Will I ever know? I will...
We never bonded, that's why. We we're never chains, none of us could ever say we were. But still we thought, we thought we were strong, and even stronger alone. Another we could give power, and become stronger ourselves. But again this was false. Broken is our hearts, as one link fell alone with none to support. Then came the promise, the promise that made me strong, and proved I was weak. Together we weren't, yet together we should have been. As fate attacked at our strongest link, the link separated. © 2018 unspokenpain |
