Who are you?

Who are you?

When you gaze at the stars, do you see the beauty? When walking through a forest of red oaks, do you stop and stare? When you find who you are, will you know your duty? When you stop to read what you wrote, will you even care? Is the only blue you've ever seen, the blue of your Facebook page? Is the only change in your life, the amount of followers on your twitter? Have you ever wrote a post that's mean, because there's someone you just had to up stage? Have you ever stopped someone using a knife, because they were treated like a hideous creature. Can you say your dream is to see the stars, or to be the star on TV? Will your life be complete when you see the big red oaks, or when you get that cheer leader down on her knees?

Very interesting poem! I really like the lines "Can you say your dream is to see the stars, / or to be the star on TV?" - nice word play and contrasting images. There's a lot of writing out there about the contrast between humanity's diminishing appreciation for nature and our fixation on technology, fame, etc., but I found this poem especially direct in addressing this issue. The juxtaposition of so many different elements made it very thought-provoking. Nice work!
