Without My Heart

Without My Heart

A Poem by unsavable_soul
"

Saw this story online, broke my heart as a parent ,so I wrote about it. Story here copy and paste. http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/story/19945898/2-year-old-child-injured-by-fallen-tree-limb-in-winder

"
"HOPES AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU TRIPP HALSTEAD!"
Your neurons still function, but they're not right.
You lay there still, eyes closed. I wonder are you awake in the night.
When you tremble I beg god to take the pain away...
I'm not sure if I mean yours or mine.

Sweet child with the distant smile...
To see it again I would walk a thousand miles.
You are and have always been in my heart.
But seeing you like this I'm not strong... I fall apart!

How can such great agony fall upon one's young progeny.
They say there is no prognosis, as I slide down the wall I'm losing focus.
Tell me you're not saying he could leave me, that child is a part of all I see.
Love conquers all, but death seems an insurmountable wall.

How do I go on, the schematics of my soul must now be redrawn.
I'll let you go if you promise to suffer no more.
I'll let you go if you promise you know you're the one I'll always adore.
I'll let you go if you promise to wait for me at life's final door...

Promise me we'll have more...
