Broken Like Me

Broken Like Me

A Poem by Laura Ex

Time ticks slowly by
And I wonder how
I could have gone a whole day
Without                       you
By my side
I look at the candlewick on the table
Where there                are
Several napkins underneath the wax
Waiting for the hot melted mess
To drip onto the cold tabletop
I notice how the wick is                                     almost
To its end point and the flame
Slowly dies, just           as
The clock ticks and tocks
I ponder what would happen
If I were to crack said clock
And leave it                 broken
On the wall; would it feel like
Time was moving         as
Slow as it does now?
All I know is that
I can't wait for you
To come home and see                                    me
