Early Morning, Late Night Thoughts

Can't fall asleep,
I'll take the leap,
Mind is racing,
Thoughts are chasing
All the rationality out of my head.
As I sit here bloodshot in bed.
Hit the snooze button on life
Cut corners with this knife
Love unconditionally and fear
That I can only trust the mirror
And even then it lies to me
Shows me things I don't want to see
Telling me sweet little lies
As I droop my soft iridescent eyes
And I long for the love of another
But realize, too late, love is severed
