Guilty

Guilty

A Poem by Laura Ex

Guilty, guilty, GUILTY
The word scrawls itself
Upon my skin, eyes, and brain
I know no other word
Just guilty all the same
No matter how I scream
Or throw myself around
The word will not leave
Its permanent shroud
Buried too deep inside
My distraught mind
To escape
Its claw-like grip scrapes
My heart
Making it hard to breathe
Falling into the trap
You made so easily
