Flightless

Flightless

A Poem by Laura Ex

Mutual life lives off of me
Like a leech sucking blood
You bleed just to bleed
No point to the action,
Like the point on your knife
Contemplate all the purpose
There’s no point to your life
So you drown in the thoughts
Of your highs and your lows
And you realize the extremes
To which your mind goes
Can you blame all the hate?
That you hold deep inside
Or is it too much
It leaves you wanting to die
So drink while you can
Before life comes to end
Remember the favor as you make your decent
Deep below into the dark blue
So dark that it hurts
Like you want to
Cry not for the loss
Of hope and good feeling
But for the subtraction
Of love and seemingly
Less substantial the cause
Of this hatred that quickens
And thickens my pulse
Complications arise as the
Bird flies from nest
And it falls to the ground, flightless.
